U.S. Rep. Charlie Dent (PA-15), a member of the House Committee on Homeland Security and Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Transportation Security and Infrastructure Protection, is encouraging individuals, families and business owners to recognize September as National Preparedness Month and asking that Pennsylvanians take the time to review plans for their homes, businesses and communities in case of an emergency.
“I am grateful for the men and women who serve in our communities as emergency and first responders. These professionals are a tremendous asset to the safety and security of our schools, workplaces and neighborhoods,” Congressman Dent said.
“However, we need to do our part. In some instances, we have no way of preventing a disaster, like a flood or tornado,” said the Congressman. Consequently, emergency plans and kits should be in place should your family find themselves in the midst of difficult or dangerous circumstances.”
The sixth annual National Preparedness Month is being sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Ready Campaign within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Please visit http://www.ready.gov for more information.
