“I’m pleased the President finally came before the American People this evening to lay out the case for combating the cancer that is ISIS. The broad outlines of his strategy are largely on-point, but as we all know, the devil lies in the details.
For example, what is his plan for assembling a coalition of willing allies to take up arms against ISIS? Which of our Western and Middle Eastern allies and partners will join us? How will ISIS be pursued and eliminated in Syria? President Obama did not provide those answers tonight, but those are questions that must be answered soon.
As a member of the House Appropriations Committee and the Vice Chair of the State, Foreign Operations Subcommittee, I intend to work with my colleagues of both parties to ensure that adequate resources are provided for an effective effort to eliminate ISIS as a threat to the civilized world.”
