WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Charlie Dent (PA-15) today issued the following statement on the agreement to extend payroll tax relief and implement various pro-growth economic policies:

“I support the bipartisan agreement reached by House and Senate leaders this afternoon to temporarily extend payroll tax relief and pave the way for a full resolution of this matter. As I have stated in the past, I favored a yearlong extension. However, in the last few days, it had become clear that result could not be reached before the January 1, 2012 deadline.

“To prevent hardworking American taxpayers from facing a tax increase in the New Year, I will support the temporary extension crafted today. I am hopeful this short-term provision will provide ample time to reach an additional agreement that extends payroll tax relief for the entire year.”
