U.S. Rep. Charlie Dent (PA-15) is reading and reviewing H.R. 3962, the latest version of the House Democrats health care legislation. The new bill, H.R. 3962, was unveiled last Thursday, and a vote is scheduled for later this week.
“Americans have made it clear that they will not accept the continued practice of pushing huge bills through Congress without Members having time to read and understand the implications of the policy,” Congressman Dent said.
Congressman Dent has already made efforts to allow the public access to this massive bill. He has posted the bill on his Web site, www.dent.house.gov, and also delivered a bound volume of the legislation to the Bethlehem Area Public Library, near his district office in Bethlehem.
And Congressman Dent has helped lead the effort to provide more transparency to the legislative process. He supports requiring online posting of completed legislation at least 72 hours prior to a vote, which House Democrats have agreed to do for H.R. 3962.
Congressman Dent has also introduced a bill to require installation of permanent cameras for Webcasting the proceedings of the powerful Rules Committee, which determines whether amendments can proceed to the House floor.
