(Washington, PA) Today, Representative Charlie Dent (PA-15) met with Tina Blake of Hamburg, PA. Ms. Blake works as a Sodexo General Manager for StoneRidge Retirement Living. For nearly a decade, Tina has been involved in providing food for those facing hunger because of economic need. Since 2008, Tina has prepared, delivered and served over 8,000 meals as the Team Captain with Opportunity House – a service organization in the Reading area that assists children, families and adults who are facing difficulties providing themselves with food and shelter.
Over the years, Tina has contributed her time and energies to help stock the pantries of local food banks and every winter starting in 2008 she has served meals to make sure that no one in need in the Myerstown area goes without at least one delicious, healthy holiday meal.
In recognition of her magnificent volunteer work Ms. Blake was named as one of Sodexo Foundation’s “Heroes of Everyday Life.” The Foundation made a $5,000 grant in her name which will be presented by Tina to IHartHarvest, Inc.
Representative Dent commented on his meeting with Tina:
“Meeting people like Tina Blake always fills me with hope. She has selflessly dedicated herself to fighting hunger in Berks County. Tina has great heart and determination and I was very glad that she visited me so that I had a chance to thank her on behalf of the people of the 15th District and also congratulate her on being recognized as a ‘Hero of Everyday Life’ by the Sodexo Foundation.”
