Congressman Charlie Dent (PA-15) voted tonight for $225 million in supplemental funding to resupply Israel’s Iron Dome Missile Defense System.

The Iron Dome system has saved untold hundreds, if not thousands, of lives in Israeli by destroying rockets launched by Hamas from Gaza. Israel’s military has stated that Iron Dome has a success rate of 86% against these rocket attacks.

Congressman Dent had the following statement regarding passage of this measure: “Israel needs the time and space to achieve its military objectives against Hamas. The House has unequivocally shown that we stand with Israel against Hamas and its terror tactics. While we regret the loss of innocent lives, Hamas must stop putting its people at risk and using innocent civilians to defend their missiles. Iron Dome allows Israel to use missiles to protect innocent civilians. The Senate passed the bill earlier today. It can now go to President Obama for his signature.”

H.J.Res. 76 passed by an impressively bipartisan vote of 395 to 8.
