WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Charlie Dent (PA-15) has been selected by House Speaker John Boehner to serve on the House Committee on Ethics (formerly the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct) in the 112th Congress. This will be Dent’s second term on the Committee, which oversees the official conduct of Members of Congress and Congressional staff, investigates reports of misconduct and provides recommendations for punishing those found to be in violation of House ethical standards.
“A single Representative’s misconduct can jeopardize the public’s confidence in the entire Congress,” Dent said. “I’m honored to be trusted to serve on the Ethics Committee because I believe our work demonstrates to the American people that Members of Congress and staff are held to high ethical standards, and will face appropriate sanctions for any wrongdoing.”
Dent will be one of five Republicans serving on the Committee, including Chairman Jo Bonner (AL-1), Rep. Michael McCaul (TX-10), Rep. Michael Conaway (TX-11) and Rep. Gregg Harper (MS-3).
