WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, President Donald Trump was sworn in as the 45th President of the United States. Congressman Charlie Dent (PA-15) made the following statement on this momentous occasion:

“The presidential inauguration is always an inspiring and exciting time, offering us an occasion to celebrate our republic, the office of the President, and our remarkable, 241 year-old tradition of peacefully transferring power from one leader to the next. I have had the privilege of attending four previous inaugurations, with today being the fifth. Much as when President Bill Clinton departed for President George W. Bush, who in turn departed for President Barack Obama, today we witnessed  President Obama cede control to President Donald Trump, carrying on a distinctly American way of governance. Now, the President and Congress must begin the difficult task of addressing the many challenges that face our nation. I look forward to working with the new President, supporting him on policies that I believe are beneficial for the American people, and acting as a check and balance when necessary.”
