WASHINGTON -- U.S. Rep. Charlie Dent (PA-15) has been appointed to the House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct, commonly known as the Ethics Committee, for the 111th Congress. The Committee has jurisdiction over the House Code of Conduct and investigates ethical allegations against Members of Congress.
“The American people deserve integrity and transparency in government, and I have always done my best as a public official to live up to a high standard,” Congressman Dent said. “I am honored to be appointed by my peers to the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct, and understand the serious responsibilities entrusted to those serving on the Committee. This Committee has never been more relevant than it is today. The American people have high expectations for the ethical conduct of Members of Congress, and I take that charge very seriously.”
In addition to investigating allegations against Members, the Ethics Committee reviews proposed changes to the Code of Conduct and oversees ethics training for Congressional staff.
