WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Charlie Dent (PA-15), a member of the Appropriations Subcommittees on Homeland Security and Transportation, Housing & Urban Development, today sent a letter to President Barack Obama thanking him for his rapid response to Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett’s request for emergency disaster assistance and asking that the Administration fully consider a potential request for a major disaster declaration that would affect the 15th District.

Text of the letter is below:

President Barack Obama

The White House

Washington, D.C.

Dear President Obama,

Thank you for the quick response to Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett’s request for emergency disaster assistance for the state and local response to thirteen counties across the Commonwealth, including three of the four counties in the Fifteenth Congressional District, after Hurricane Irene swept up the coast.

Many families and small businesses in Lehigh, Northampton and Montgomery Counties are responding to flooding and other hurricane related damage from this massive storm. In the event Governor Corbett calls for a major disaster declaration, I ask that the Administration provides thorough consideration of the request to ensure the communities in the Fifteenth District have what they need to move forward after Irene.

Thank you for the immediate and coordinated efforts provided by the emergency response professionals at Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Sincerely,

Charles W. Dent

Member of Congress
