Congressman Dent's Statement on Voting to Repeal Obamacare
I voted today to repeal the President’s health care law.
This law represents a classic example of government overreach. It does not solve the health care access problem, while costing an astronomical $1.88 trillion.
It will force people out of the insurance plans they were told they could keep while increasing taxes by nearly a trillion dollars -- and counting.
It stifles medical innovation, undermines doctor-patient relationships and will cause Americans to lose their jobs or paid working hours.
I believe that everyone deserves access to quality, affordable health care coverage, and I have worked and voted to provide them with it.
One of the duties of a Congressman is to protect the people he represents from onerous, ineffective legislation like Obamacare. A Senator who helped write this law recently said it was a “train wreck” waiting to happen – and then he promptly announced he was retiring.
If you see a train wreck about to happen, you try to put on the brakes and that’s why I again voted to repeal this law.
