Emerson and Dent Elected Tuesday Group Co-Chairs

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Tuesday Group, a Congressional caucus of center-right House Republicans, today elected Rep. Jo Ann Emerson (MO-8) and Rep. Charlie Dent (PA-15) as co-chairs for the 112th Congress. Emerson returns as co-chair after leading the caucus for much of the 111th Congress. Dent will be serving as co-chair for a third term, having first been elected by the group at the start of the 110th Congress.

“I’m honored to continue to serve in a leadership role for a group of Republicans which is intent on developing sound policy in response to the serious challenges facing our nation,” Emerson said. “Our group reflects the commitment of Republicans to seek solutions, to work for consensus, and to conduct a vigorous yet civil debate. I think our most important work lies ahead.”

“I often describe Tuesday Group as a center-right coalition,” Dent added. “All of our members share the goal of developing and enacting commonsense policies that support economic growth, reduce the size of government and promote a strong national defense.”

Rep. Jo Ann Emerson has served in the House from Missouri’s Eighth District since 1996. She is Chairwoman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services, co-chair of the bipartisan Center Aisle Caucus, and a founder of the Congressional Bipartisan Retreat. Emerson lives in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Rep. Charlie Dent has served in the House from Pennsylvania’s Fifteenth District since 2004. He is a new member of the House Committee on Appropriations and chairs multiple Congressional caucuses, including the Cement Caucus, Delaware River Basin Task Force and Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Caucus.
