September is National Preparedness Month!
This month, I encourage you to learn more about how you and your family can be better prepared for unexpected emergencies, including severe weather. Please visit the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Ready.gov website for helpful tips on preparing your home, workplace and community.
The National Preparedness Month Coalition includes thousands of individuals, private sector and non-profit partners joined together to host or promote local preparedness activities. To join this collaborative effort by participating in an event in our area or by hosting your own event, please visit the National Preparedness Month Coalition’s website.
As we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, this year’s theme for National Preparedness Month is, “A Time to Remember, A Time to Prepare.” The 10th Anniversary will be a National Day of Service so please consider helping your neighbors with their preparedness efforts by volunteering your time. Visit the Corporation for National & Community Service’s Serve.gov website to find opportunities in our area.
National Preparedness Month is the time to prepare your home, workplace, and community for unexpected emergencies. You can help yourself and others during a crisis by becoming better informed and making preparations now.
